3 places you must visit in Morocco

Amazing, diverse, and mysterious. Morocco is an extraordinary place to travel. Is a big country and the distances are very long but the amazing places are worth it. Here are three of the must-visit places you should go to if you’re planning to travel to Morocco.

1. Sahara Desert

This is definitely a dream come true. I went to the desert with the tour company ‘Viaje a Marruecos’. They have an amazing camp in the middle of the desert and the experience is unbelievable. The camel ride through the dunes at sunrise was one of the best moments of my trip I recommended it a lot. Seeing the epic sand dunes of the Sahara in the morning with the perfect sunlight is unforgettable.

After an amazing day, the locals of the ‘Viaje a Marruecos’ camp have a tradition of making a bonfire in the desert and they teach you their typical dance. What a magical experience to learn about this culture. Sleeping in a luxurious and comfortable tent is a great way to live all the experience.

2. The Blue City of Chefchaouen

Chefchaouen it’s an amazing mountain village painted in 100 shades of blue. That’s why everyone calls the town ‘the blue city’ and a must place to visit if you’re planning to travel to Morocco. Every spot here is beautiful and perfect for pictures.

For me, the most amazing experience was getting to know the people. Locals are so welcoming and they even borrow you the clothes to take the pictures with the right colors to combine them with the blue walls. They know everyone wants perfect pictures so they decorate their houses to be ‘instagrammeable’. They only spect a tip for their help. Definitely, a traveler’s paradise!

The walk through the local markets is one of the best ways to support people from the city. You can find a lot of beautiful things made by the people in town.

If you come to this city don’t forget to follow the path and reach the river that comes from Ras El-Ma and flows to the “right” (looking at the map) of the city. A hidden gem where you can spend the day enjoying the local life and crafts.

3. Aït Benhaddou

On the way to Marrakech, you have to visit an incredible/breathtaking town and the scenario of a lot of films. The giant sandcastles built against a hilltop, have made this place a very popular location. Some of the films made here are Gladiator, Game of Thrones, Lawrence of Arabia, The Jewel of the Nile, and The Mummy.

Ait Ben Haddou was built along a former trading route between the Sahara desert and Marrakech. This village is estimated to have existed from the 17th century and features an amazing Morrocan earthen architecture. Definitely, a place that worth to visit.
