LiveSpaLife arrives to Jordan. This time I visited one of the most intriguing natural phenomena on Earth: The Dead Sea. This salt water lake is completely devoid of life and with almost 10 times more salt than ordinary seawater. The high salt and mineral content here means that this body of water has powerful healing properties.

I stayed at the Dead Sea Marriot Resort and Spa. The facilities at this resort are breathtaking. A private entrance to the Dead Sea, beautiful pools, unique design, and a one-of-a-kind Spa.  This is the perfect place to restore balance to your mind-body, and spirit, using a wide variety of therapeutic treatments which contain a lot of minerals.

The Treatments at the Spa

This time I enjoyed the signature facial and body treatments at this amazing spa: the Dead Sea Mud Wrap and Mud Facial. Wellness and unique treatments inspired by modern techniques and the ancient healing traditions of Jordan and the Dead Sea.

For the body treatment, the specialist applies mud all over the body and wraps it with plastic and towels. The mud helps restore moisture and will help your skin to be soft and silky thanks to its minerals.  After being wrapped for 20 minutes and very relaxed in the main room of the spa with an amazing view, the mud is dry but my skin is soft and moist.

With this experience, I understood why this treatment is so famous and everyone talks about it. The feeling on the skin is amazing and this is something I definetly want to repeat.

After the body treatment, I tried the Signature Mud Facial. A deep cleansing facial with Dead Sea mud and trace elements that are used to eliminate impurities to leave the skin glowing and fresh looking.

For the treatment, the specialist cleans the skin with eye makeup remover and cleansing milk with a local brand made with Dead Sea minerals. Then, she applies the toner to prepare the skin for absorbing the special mud. This mud mask used in the facial is different and contains a high quantity of minerals and also honey for delicate skin. This mask provides antiaging benefits by tightening and toning skin, reducing fine lines and wrinkles, and shrinking pores.

I was very relaxed to experience this mud on my face. After 5 minutes, the specialist removes the mud with a warm towel and applied the facial scrub and the day cream to finish this amazing treatment.

As an aesthetician, I’m always looking for new techniques around the world, and trying the famous Dead Sea Mud and feeling its powerful healing properties, was one of my favorite experiences.

The Products

At Dead Sea Marriot Hotel and Spa, they use local brand Products Professional Line Spa made in Jordan with natural ingredients that contain high-quality minerals from the Dead Sea.  The added benefit of Dead Sea mud is that the salt and magnesium in it can improve your skin’s functionality by making it a better barrier and more elastic.  After using these products, your skin ends very soft, rejuvenated and glowing.

The Spa has a great team of talented therapists that are very good and welcoming. In my case, I was honored to be in the hands of Lovebella, an amazing therapist who transmits tranquility and relaxation. She explained to me every part of the process and I will definitely recommend her and all the staff. I have to thank all the team members that helped me and my team experience these iconic treatments in a beautiful place.
